Ouija Board Produces First Winner

Voodoo Prince, the first foal out of international champion Ouija Board, became the mare’s initial winner when she scored at Haydock in England May 27.

By Kingmambo, 3-year-old Voodoo Prince won the mile event in his second start in front of owner Lord Derby, who also owns Ouija Board. “That was encouraging,” said Lord Derby, according to the Racing Post. “He was inexperienced and green, and we didn’t know what was going to happen. To have the next generation and the first foal of Ouija Board win on his second start is great.”

Ouija Board (Cape Cross—Selection Board, by Welsh Pageant) is a two-time English Horse of the Year. She started three times in North America, winning the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf in 2004 and in ’06. She was voted an Eclipse Award both years. Ouija Board ran second in the race in 2005.

Ouija Board also is the dam of a 2-year-old Monsun colt named Aegaeus and an unnamed Galileo filly.
